Dealing with overwhelm

I know you have a lot of shit ​going on and a lot of shit you are juggling. It can get overwhelming, BUT you do not have to feel overwhelmed. You CAN do all the things. You ARE in control. Here is how you can decrease your overwhelm.

First thing is first: you need to take a deep breath – maybe a few. Breathe in for 3 – 5 seconds and then breathe out for the same amount of time. Do NOT hold the breath in between the inhale and exhale.

Then: I want you to write down all the things that are overwhelming you, all the things you have to do, all the anxious thoughts etc.

After you have done this, I want you to go through the list. Ask yourself:

  1. what on this list is really not that big of a deal (the anxious brain will make small things seem way worse than they are)
  2. what can wait for tomorrow or next week
  3. what can you tackle right now (start with the small stuff)

After you have done the above, I want you to stop saying that you ARE overwhelmed and start declaring that you ARE the higher trait.

For example “I am productive” “I am in control” “I got this” whatever speaks to your highest self

Remember: what you say about yourself WILL be true. Stop adopting the overwhelm as part of your identity. You may FEEL overwhelmed, but stop saying that you ARE overwhelmed.
