Preparing to not gain a whole bunch of weight over Thanksgiving

By November 24, 2019 No Comments

Thanksgiving is a holiday built around food. You are going to eat… a lot. And that is okay!

Here is the mistake I see way too often. Women feel like from Thanksgiving to New Years they might as well just wait to start that workout program because “it’s the holidays”

“I might as well not even try because I am going to be eating so much food for the holidays”

This is an all or nothing mindset and it is stopping you from losing the weight you have been trying to lose for some time now.

Let’s talk about getting through Thanksgiving without throwing in the towel, without gaining a bunch of weight, and without feeling like “fuck it, I will wait until the new year to start”

This week as we go into Thanksgiving I want you to get moving. Get exercising. Start burning those calories. I don’t care if it is only 10 or 15 minutes. Just get moving.

When Thanksgiving finally gets here, it is honestly the best idea to wake up and get that workout in. The more calories you burn, the more you can afford to eat during dinner.

Eat well throughout the day before the big meal and drink lots of water. A lot of people want to “save their calories” for the big meal, but by not eating all day you are going into dinner starving and you are now more likely to gorge and over eat (not ideal).

*Dinner is served*

Enjoy the hell out of whatever food you want.

Yep. I said it and I mean it.

Enjoy your meal and your time with your family. Just enjoy those foods in a healthy moderation. There is honestly no need to stuff yourself the way you stuffed that turkey. It just plain doesn’t feel good when you fall into that food coma.

As soon as dinner is done, be grateful for having such great food and time with loved ones. Come to terms with what you ate and let it go. Do NOT talk about how gross you are or how guilty you are or how you need to kill yourself in the gym to compensate. This way of thinking is doing  you no favors, my friend.

The next meal you have should be clean. Eat lots of whole foods, fruits, veggies, clean protein, etc.

The next day I want you to do some strength training. Put those carbs you enjoyed to work! Do not kill yourself or go overboard. Just get the workout done the way you normally would and without guilt. This workout is not a punishment.

YOU CAN GO INTO THIS HOLIDAY SEASON WITH THE RIGHT MINDSET AND WITHOUT GAINING A BUNCH OF WEIGHT AND WITHOUT SETTING YOURSELF FURTHER BACK.

YOU ARE PERFECTLY CAPABLE OF CREATING BALANCE IN YOUR LIFE WHERE YOU CAN ENJOY THE HOLIDAYS AND AWESOME FOOD WHILE STILL MAINTAINING YOUR HEALTH AND LOSING WEIGHT.
